Dennoch steht bis heute - wie auch für die Sargtexte des Mittleren Reiches und das Totenbuch bzw. die Unterweltsbücher des Neuen Reiches - eine eingehende Untersuchung zu den Feinden und Gefährdungen des Verstorbenen in diesen Texten aus. Die zahlreichen Sprüche der Pyramidentexte dienen dazu, den Weg des verstorbenen Herrschers ins Jenseits zu bereiten, die jenseitige Existenz zu garantieren und den Verstorbenen vor Gefahren und Bedrohungen zu bewahren.
