Between 1973 and 2006 this little known museum had a multitude of finds on display which almost exclusively came from excavations of the Egyptian Antiquities‘ Organisation (EAO) at sites in the Eastern Nile Delta. Further objects came from P. Montet‘s excavations at Tanis.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith support of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) a total of 144 objects have been documented for the present catalogue. All are depicted in colour and thoroughly explained. The objects are currently inaccessible but it is planned to display them in another museum in the future. In Bubastis (Tell Basta) well-carved statues of officials were excavated in a huge brick palace. They were found together with reliefs of Amenemhat III and offering tables for the mayors of Bubastis in the Middle Kingdom. In the Cemetery of the New Kingdom were found stelae, jewellery, and parts of the burial equipment of the vizier Iuti and of his son Ay, a high priest of Bastet – all objects have remained unpublished until now.\u003cbr\u003eIn Tanis (San el-Hagar), several statues of Ptolemaic kings were found within the immense Delta temple site of Amun, Mut and Khonsu – a temple which, since the 21 st Dynasty, had been regarded as the Lower Egyptian equivalent to Karnak.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eImet (Tell el-Fara‘un, El-Husseiniya) was cult centre of the divinities Wadjit (Uto) and Min. Nearly all of these papers were presented at the same-titled conference held on June 21 and 22, 2013 in the Archeological Museum in Poznań, Poland. Although originally planned as a workshop presenting the results of research carried out as part of the project, the conference eventually evolved into a major event and became an opportunity to meet and talk about the role of Delta communities in the development of the Egyptian civilization in the 4th millennium BC, with particular emphasis on their relations with neighboring areas, i.e. the Southern Levant and Upper Egypt. The conference was attended both by project partners and by invited guests whose papers made an excellent addition to the main topic of the event. Only the paper by Steven Rosen was presented at a workshop called Imports during the Naqada Period: Investigating Two Sides of a Phenomenon organized by W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem on November 26, 2012. The main goal of the workshop was to meet Israeli archeologists, who keep finding Egyptian imports on various sites. An important element of the workshop was the opportunity to discuss Egyptian-Levantine relationships not only from the Egyptian, but also from the Levantine perspective. This volume, which presents an analysis of faience object from Polish-Egyptian excavations at Tell Atrib, ancient Athribis, will help to remedy this problem. Excavations in Tell Atrib revealed traces of local production of faience objects. They include vessels, figurines, amulets and ushebti recovered from three major strata dated to different phases of the Ptolemaic period. Their provenance from securely dated contexts allowed for tracing typological changes occurring over time, which is of particular importance for studying the history of local faience production. These observations give grounds for analyzing the sources of influence and inspiration of local artisans.
