Butchering and Meat Consumption in the Neolithic: The Exploitation of Animals at Bronocice is the result of cooperative archaeological and zooarchaeological research between American and Polish scholars. The focus of the research was on the faunal assemblage recovered from the Neolithic site of Bronocice, which was just one component of a much larger collection of artifacts and other remains found during excavations in the 1970s. The faunal assemblage was associated with three Neolithic cultures: Funnel Beaker, Lublin-Volhynian and Funnel Beaker-Baden. The timescale for these cultures is from 3800 to 2700 BC in the Bronocice region. A sample of five pits from each phase of occupation was selected for the study. The results were used to address broad issues of patterning and change over time at Bronocice.
